I got pestered to make a Fundable account. I've been informed up down right and left that it's not leeching, it's not pride, it's not an EVIL THING. I still feel all icky nasty about it. The only thing that makes it any less EEEWW, is that I calculated in paying back

But the fact that this has been mentioned by multiple people means you are loved and that they WANT to help. It's humbling, but also flattering. You are the kind of person/family that we all feel good about helping. Allow it, despite the icky feeling. Because we want to, and that's ok, too.

Date: 2008-08-01 10:39 pm (UTC)From:I too have a special needs child (Autistic) and that can run into some serious numbers especially if doctors are involved. There's no shame in taking help if offered. And as parents it's often our duty to do the nasty things to help our family survive and grow. We may not like those things but they have to be done.
And besides - sometimes people in this society don't know _how_ to help. Often this unfortunately defaults to throwing money if they can think of no other way. This is just taking advantage of that.
Oh - one big note that popped into my head. Make sure you report this donated income on your taxes somehow. I'd check with a tax specialist just to be safe.
