Atheism, the new snobbery.

Me: Dear Atheist Fundamentalists: You've decided that the equivalent of playground taunts is the way to win the War on Religion. Unimpressed.

Them: Playground, an excellent metaphor! But you are the only ones left on the playground. The rest of us have graduated.

Me: You prove my point. AF's can't get it up without insulting people.

OK, so note first that this guy assumes that I'm religious, because I'm knocking atheisim...and then assumes superior maturity because of that 'fact'.

This is why the new Atheist 'movement', if you will, makes me want to barf. the face of Atheism now is all about being a More Highly Evolved Being, much more civilized and intellectually superior to those poor, deluded cave men who believe in Something.

Instead of atheism being about "Just like you, just not into a God", now it's all about insults, and mockery, and trying to rub peoples faces in how much Better they are than the rest of us. That doesn't make you an atheist, that just makes you an assahat.

Bus signs saying "no god, get on with life"? Just dumb. Sign at Christmas about how there's no god? Petty.

C'mon atheists, give us something more to get behind your 'cause' than "Atheism: Cause We're Smarter Than You!" I don't want to be associated with any group that thinks it needs to degrade others to be right.

Fundamentalism is orthogonal to actual belief. It doesn't matter so much what they believe as much as what they believe is inherently superior.
