Airfares and such

Since I need to make another 6000 mile round trip to Boston, and then I may be taking a business trip to Austin in September, would it be worth it for me to try and sign up for an air mile program, so maybe Austin would be cheaper? Will flying to Boston rack me up enough miles to be worth it?
