Part one of the LOST season finale tonight, YAY!

I discovered an unexpected pet peeve... mocking people who buy lottery tickets. The whole "tax on stupid people" thing is IMNSHO annoying and snobby. Hope, no matter how unlikely, is never a bad thing.

I am craving meat that was not previously covered in feathers. I am so sick of chicken and turkey meat I could scream. Please for to be sending me dead cow, kthx.

they actually brought up the point I've been making for years:
We need not decide in this case whether the name “marriage” is invariably
a core element of the state constitutional right to marry so that the state would
violate a couple’s constitutional right even if — perhaps in order to emphasize and
clarify that this civil institution is distinct from the religious institution of
marriage — the state were to assign a name other than marriage as the official
designation of the formal family relationship for all couples.

Instead of fighting to call everything 'marriage', get the word 'marriage' out of the civil and legal realm, and call everyone's signing of the civil contract of partnership (currently known as a 'marriage licence') a 'civil union' or 'domestic partnership'. And then take the next step, and make the signing of that contract, something that has to happen outside of the ritualized ceremony.
