Updaty-sort of thing
Oct. 6th, 2005 03:05 pmSpent 7 hours in the ER with Mousie to learn a lesson we already knew... if your body is broken there is a place for you, if it's your mind that needs help, you're on your own.
The short version of the story is that Miri's behaviours have been getting worse and worse, and the drug coctails getting less and less effective, and last night, after multiple hours of hysteria and injury (to self and parents), we finally threw up our hands. Coming on top of the chaos with the house, and my health, and Blade's work, we knew we'd hit rock bottom, and couldn't guarantee her, or our, safety anymore.
7 hours later, all the professionals have many regrets, but the psych ward didn't have the staffing for the care she'd need, there's no sub-acute facilities that meet her needs, and no one really knows what to do except try and arrange more respite hours.
So, if you have a violent, developmentally delayed kindergartener, and she needs more professional care than you can give? You're screwed.
And now, after 2.5 hours of sleep (fitfully gained, and added to the maybe 1 hour total since 08:00 yesterday) we have to go, pick up the mousie from the respite person, and go back to the Dr, to try and figure out a drug combo that will keep Miri stable enough to go to school, and afford Blade and I some rest.
