Apr. 18th, 2005 01:22 pmThe buzzzz around here today is the Adobe/Macromedia merge. Needless to say, people on both sides are running around like the proverbial chicken. But read through this article on CNET, and you see where the real story is. In one corner you have Adobe, recognized boss of print media design, in another corner you have Macromedia, ruler of web content. And over in the third corner you have Microsoft, who's starting to make inroads into both areas.
Adobe and Macromedia have a long history of suing and countersuing each other, but cremating the hatchet and scattering the ashes is not just a bold move, it's a smart one. The combined forces give both companies strong products a better backing, and smooths integration of the tech, so MS has an even bigger wall to climb.
